Victorian Button Necklace - Burgundy Blossom Antique Button Necklace - Picture Button Pendant handmade by Compass Rose Design Our antique button necklaces are made with genuine vintage buttons made between 1860 and 1920. This large metal picture button would have adorned a coat or ladies dress and was saved and passed down through the generations. ABOUT THIS DESIGN: Jewelry of the early Victorian era reflected the romantic notions of the young queen’s courtship and marriage. Love tokens, travel charms and other symbol-laden, sentiment-infused jewelry was popular from 1830 to the turn of the century. Production methods in the 1800s popularized steel picture buttons, used on women and children’s clothing from the 1860s into the Edwardian era. Victorian pictures buttons, often with multiple layers, featured detailed botanical designs and scenes from European fairy tales as well as Classical art and mythology. Own a piece of history! MEASUREMENTS & MATERIALS: * Nickel-free brass chain measures approximately 18" * The pendant is just under 1.25" across. * All items come in a gift box.
