Elegant and sophisticated with an edge! Steampunk watch movement gear necklace featuring a vintage watch movement with exposed gears and real jewel bearings on a highly detailed movement. This watch will not tell you the time, as it is more than 50 years old and is now in the upcycled phase of its life. This pendant is accented with a Victorian Revival butterfly accent. The back of the pendant has a compass rose design, making the necklace not quite reversible, but certainly beautiful from either side! HISTORY OF THE DESIGN: Bees, Butterflies, and other insects were popular, along with other natural themes throughout the Victorian Era. Butterflies were particularly popular in 1894, appearing in jeweled pendants, brooches, dress prints and hair jewelry. The original jeweled versions this design is based upon are breathtaking - you can find them in the jewelry archive of the Victoria & Albert museum. MEASUREMENTS & MATERIALS: * The nickel-free brass chain measures approximately 18" * The pendant measures 1.25" wide and 1.75" tall. * All items come in a gift box.
