Created in a joint collaboration between Azimuth and famed Mexican explorer, Fernando Alberto Lozano Andrade, Azimuth sponsored Fernando???s dangerous and Guinness World Record expedition, the ???Absolute Altitude???, in December 2010 to scale the highest peak and dive to the deepest depths on the South American continent. Fernando scaled the Ojos del Salado volcano with the Xtreme-1 Seahum GMT and Xtreme-1 Deep Diver watch, part of the Xtreme-1 collection. Ojos del Salado is the highest active volcano in the world standing at 6,896 metres and is located on the border of Chile and Argentina. It is also the second highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere. The Azimuth Xtreme-1 watches have also gone through the rigors in high altitude diving ??? accompanying Fernando in his dives into the Ojos del Salado lake, which lies east of the summit.
